Audio compression based on psychoacoustic compression is widely used in consumer products. MP3, WMA, AAC, or Ogg Vorbis are formats that KWest can embed in your product – either as an encoder or a decoder. The falling price of memory as well as the demand for even higher quality has led to the development of „lossless“ audio codecs that use mathematic coding rather than psychoacoustic models to reduce the number of bits required to store a certain music file. FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) is one of these solutions, and Apple and Microsoft have also introduced their own Lossless Audio standards.

Dolby Digital Decoding
For Multi-Channel Audio there is one standardized format today used on every DVD – both Video and Audio. AC-3 provides multi-channel Audio compression at rates of 384 Kbit/sec.
